Extreme Makeover Home Edition - Carter Family 1 of 5

November 15th, 2008

Aired - October 21, 2007

The team heads to Montana to help the Carter Family. Mother Julie suffers from a disease that makes her skull too small. This then causes a myriad of other problems if the illness isn’t diagnosed. It took her over 100 doctors to finally get the correct diagnoses. Making things worse is that it is hereditary and all three of her daughters have it. Julie makes it her mission to help others with the disease. The family’s house used to be a chicken coup and definitely isn’t designed to be lived in. Some of the rooms aren’t insulated, there are exposed electrical lines, the floor sinks in when you step on it, and there are still chicken feces in the wall.

Thanks so much for uploading these. My mother told me I had Arnold Chiari malformation last year, I had no idea. Obviously mine isn’t that severe, and I didn’t have to have surgery. Had a cancer that affected the area of my skull, so that was when they found it.

I feel blessed that mine isn’t as bad as theirs. I love learning about all these families on EMHE
